A review of Lenovo W700

Lenovo W700 is for high end computing users who want excellent graphics display performances, similar to that of the MAC line of computers from Apple.

Lenovo W700 is a monster laptop that will not fit on your laps. Measuring 16 inches by 12 inchs externally, it is a big laptop with 17 inch screen. It weighs 8 lb and 10 oz, and if you hate carrying weight, this notebook is not for you. YOu must travel less and use it more like a notebook replacement of desktop.

Processor

The processor inside Lenovo W700 is Intel Core 2 Extreme Q9300 at 2.53 GHz with 12 MB L2 cache. Pretty fast with any standard. Before I keep praising this notebook a solid remark against this solid notebook. It is priced beyond the pocket of common users. Starting at $2300 is it way beyond the reach of the recession hit US consumers. And don't get disillusioned by the starting price - the starting price will get you bare notebook. You will get a reasonable notebook only at $3000 which will include digitzer and pen.

Battery Life

With Large screen size the battery life was not expected to be high. Under normal conditions, this notebook delivers 2 ours and 20 minutes of battery life. This was not unexpected. You battery life is your concern, you may try looking for notebooks smaller in size - like one with 14.1"
Screen

The Lenovo W700 has large 17" 1920x1200 WUXGA TFT.This is big and nice especially if you are accustomed to opening many windows simultaneously. When Combined with the Wacom digitizer and color calibrator, the W700 is the perfect workstation for photographers and multimedia design professionals.
